BASIC PERMISSIONS

[OOC]

Backtagging: Always.
Threadhopping: In open network threads, go for it! For logs/action, please ask first.
Fourthwalling: No thank you.
Offensive subjects: Body horror can sometimes squick me pretty bad, so I'd rather know what I'm getting into if it's going to come up in a scene. Other than that, I don't have any hard limits when it comes to subject matter (and even that's like... a medium limit).

[IC]

Hugging this character: With positive CR, yes! It'll surprise him, but it won't be unwelcome.
Kissing this character: On the cheek/forehead, yes.
Flirting with this character: You can try, but he's not likely to respond in kind.
Fighting with this character: Yes, but let's talk about it OOC before getting into it.
Injuring this character: Yes, but let's talk about it OOC before getting into it.
Killing this character: Only with plotting beforehand.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Yes, although depending on the nature of your character's ability, Cole may be able to tell they're doing it.

Warnings: Cole's backstory contains themes of child abuse and torture. It will usually only be referred to in an oblique manner.

ABILITY-BASED PERMISSIONS

As a spirit of compassion, Cole has the ability to "see/hear" other peoples' pain. This can range across anything from hurtful or bittersweet memories, to current fears or anxieties, to knowing what a person needs to make them feel better. In canon, he often comments on the things he sees in peoples' heads. It usually comes from a place of curiosity or wanting to help.

Some characters may be more difficult to read due to mental abilities of their own, and if there are any specific memories players would rather not be poked at, I can find a way to play around them. I do want to make sure I'm not stepping on anyone's toes OOC. Please c/p from the text box and comment! Feel free to add extra notes if there's something the questions don't cover.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Absolutely not. Have at.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Ariadne is an Alastrian. In her home realm, her race is often hunted for sport. Their hair is considered a luxury good (akin to ivory) and they are, essentially, a dying race. Ariadne has spent pretty much her entire life hiding what she is. To the point where she even cut off her own wings and sacrificed her ability to fly so that she could pass for Human. So, I guess her self-loathing is the particular pain and being held down while her wings were cut off would be the particular memory.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nope. Although for greater detail, I'd look at the backstory/world history in her journal, rather than in her app. It's all under the [rpg mechanics] tag.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Nope, go for it!
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? WHOO BOY where to start. There's everything of going wrong in the White Spire during DA:Asunder that she was around for and all the guilt for surviving when better, more experienced mages may have not. She got grabbed by the throat and menaced by a templar in the confusion and one of her students, Roul, had to kill him to save her and there's guilt about THAT, a lot of shattered faith in the circle, in the chantry, and in people for how quickly everything went to shit, and way, way back as a kid there was the 'why aren't I good enough for my family' thoughts till she became a mage that shifted into 'why aren't I good enough for the circle' thoughts afterward.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Nope, go nuts.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Her grief/survivor's guilt about those of her company lost at the Conclave, and similar feelings about having been present for that last night in Haven.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Not really, no. Anything in her app or navigation page is fair game.

Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Proooobably the whole walking case of anxiety and wanting everyone to like her? I think the stuff we already talked about cover it pretty well.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Not that I know of so go for it Cole!
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Let's see...Dante struggles with the fact that he isn't human and what that means to others, especially now that he's in Thedas where demons, especially, are evil Smeagols. There is a particular memory that involves Dante ripping into his own chest just to see if he had a heart because he knows how different he is. Childhood memories include the death of his mother in a demon raid and watching as her heart was ripped out and eaten right in front of him. Then there's a ton of memories involving killing demons from a very young age, one disguised as his nursemaid, and several others over the span of his life. Constantly having to protect himself from demon assassination meant that he spent a lot of time in and out of the system and in and out of prison. He can peek at Dante's floundering lifestyle which includes filling all of the empty holes with pleasures and attitude like woah just to mask his deeply concealed pain. Where does it all end!?!? Poor Cole, you have your work cut out for you.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nothing is off limits, but you're free to peruse my app for further details of Dante's wiki history. He can also learn about Limbo if he wants to.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read?: She does not!
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on?: The most obvious glaring thing is that there's a massive chunk of memories that's just... gone. Apart from that, this memory is haunting the shit out of her (game footage, lots of insane necromancer stalker talking about 'what are gods', good insight into where she's at, skip the fight. ;P Very shortly after this is when Lenn fell into Thedas). She keeps seeing the youngest homonculus hanging there, and will dream about it.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits?: Nothing in app, the only off limits stuff in wiki pages is things that happen to her after the cut-off point I gave in the app. Those didn't happen to her, because she came here instead! :D

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Nope, none whatsoever.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? He tends to be the type that worries more about his friends than himself, so that would probably be stronger than any other anxiety, at least at first. But there's also the fact that he's been with the Doctor for about three years at this point, and while he loves the excitement of traveling through time and space, he's been away from his native Scotland for a very long time now and misses it more than he generally lets on. The fact that he's never managed to get back bothers him and being in this new place without any way out of it is likely going to make that worse, at least in the short term.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nope. The one thing that will truly upset him - losing most of his memories of his travels with the Doctor - hasn't happened yet at the canon-point I took him from, so everything is pretty much fair game. (For reference, it's from near the end of 'The War Games' when he's wound up on Gallifrey, but before the Time Lords mess with his memories and send him back to Scotland.)

Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Well he suffers from PTSD if that counts and has done some seriously messed up things. The ones that might end up standing out the most would be where he ends up dumping white phosphorus on a group of people. There's also his final encounter with Konrad at the end.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? No, not really, have at it! But I really would recommend playing the game, as it really would be the only way to fully grasp it? Plus it's damn good.

None whatsoever.

Oh, I can't even recall what Cole's Varric specific dialogue was. This is ridiculous as I just finished another playthrough and there's clearly no excuse for that, but eh whatever. I think, at the moment, he's pretty upset about the Herald dropping dead, I'm sure they had that conversation in Haven about tragic heroes and all, but there's nothing else that's unique to my Varric (as opposed to regular Varric) at the moment.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read?
Oh my god all the immunity ever from exactly this one stupid power because she has it also. Good thing her powers don't work quite right in Thedas and she won't even be thinking about closing her mind off, so have at.
(My app has an addendum about why her powers don't work right, but it is rife with Trespasser spoilers, so, head's up.)
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on?
I apologize that this is so long, but it beats scrolling wiki entries, so take your pick:
•Galadriel is going to be gradually sinking into despair the longer she's in Thedas so, there's that. It won't kill her in Thedas but she's not going to be 100% sure of that.
•She's been married to her husband for something on the order of 10,000 years and while she's basically come to terms with the fact that she will eventually have to part with him, she didn't think it would be right now or so abruptly.
•She's really upset by the passing of time/seasons because she hates to see things diminish and die. It's sort of a minor feeling of sadness that's just been multiplied over 15,000 years.
•Funfact: diminishing to her death is one of her greatest fears.
•Magic in Middle-earth is basically just a big container filled with the willpower of whoever made the thing. The ring on her hand will probably register as some vague sort of person. (Ditto all of her arcane artifacts, really.)
•Said ring was made for her by a brilliant master smith (and probably the nicest guy who ever lived) who was in love with her and was brutally killed by the Dark Lord. The blame for that is, at least partially, on her. She feels terrible about it.
•Her ring is the Ring of Adamant, so that's a fun naming coincidence.
•She really, really, really hates the corrupting power of darkness and can't tolerate possession. She's also not super big on dragons or spiders. Or balrogs. (But who is, really?)
•One of her favorite people of all time was Gandalf who, coincidentally, was an incarnated spirit that was mentored by the Vala of Compassion/Grief/Understanding. He also wore a ridiculously large hat, was generally immune to her mind reading power, and liked to speak in vague riddles.
•She craves power. She wants enough to overtake Sauron but is a) not sure how much that is and b) is terrified that taking that much power will either corrupt her or destroy her. It's a fair concern, tbh.
•Literally all of her brothers are dead, her daughter was mortally wounded and sent across the sea, and apart from her son-in-law the rest of her immediate family will probably not follow her to the Undying Lands, so that sucks.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits?
Nothing is off limits, but reading her ridiculously long wiki-entry is a bit of an endurance trial. Her app is pretty succinct and there is that addendum, if you're not concerned about moderate Trespasser spoilers.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? lolol nah
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Christ what isn't there, really. There's hella confusion both on the front of being dragged to a new world, and the fact that he had his entire worldview turned upside down with the whole 'hey spoilers you're actually a tortured computer' thing. There's...a lot of stuff that isn't going to make sense on the technological scale, but the pains of 'you are not what you were led to believe' and 'you can't trust any of your memories' and 'your entire life is an elaborate fiction', etc, remain clear. Along with plenty of headachey circular thoughts about knowing or having the memory of something compared with knowing he's never actually done something, around and around. Holes in his brain, yo. Have at whatever you want, honestly.
Mmm gonna add feel free to call him or allude to him being Alpha. I mean, he sure won't react WELL but...
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Honestly the only things off limits are the things he isn't aware of/doesn't know. Sure, he was told he was tortured, but he literally removed those memories, so. The wiki page is kind of a mess and the app had to do some acrobatic shortening, so feel free to drop me any questions if you have 'em!

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Not especially - Cole might be able to tell that at some point Martel had a similar ability which has been hindered by coming through the rift, though.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? I am easy; Martel has a lot of pain to work with. His loneliness and regret are the most obvious - he feels a lot of shame and anger that he is choosing to ignore, he has a lot of contradictory emotions and intellectual responses happening at any given time. It's a fucking mess in there, in short, Cole might have a hard time pinning any one thing down.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Sort of no, sort of yes - essentially I'd prefer not to have the full extent of his past immediately info dumped but I don't object to Cole getting a sense of his unhappiness or that he's a genuinely dangerous person.

It'd be nice if someone called him out on his last words before dying being a lie tho. He claims the only two people he loved are at his side; he arguably loved his lord preceptor as a father figure and spent an entire scene prancing around for his attention (in vain) while threatening people with an army. FEELINGS.

tldr the feelings are fair game, the full details of his history I'd prefer to keep hazier for the time being but can give you things to work with if u desire.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Not at all!

Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on?
At the moment Leliana's pain is probably focused on a lot of very recent things (even though they feed into past stuff); feeling that by being concerned for her scouts and calling them back to Haven that she essentially doomed Evelyn by not giving them more warning, pain regarding Justinia, and currently a lot of pain regarding being deemed untrustworthy (especially by Alistair and Zevran, although this extends to pretty much anyone who knew who Anders was and concealed it from the Inquisition. It's painful and its a betrayal, even if she realises in some instances it wasn't necessarily personal.) Also pain about Wynne and about mages and pretty much any instance where freedoms are being denied she has guilt and pain because she denied that part of herself for so long to obey Justinia's orders and be the Left Hand, and she could/should have done more. The suffering of others makes her suffer. She is a mess, in short. Also there's that thing where she feels like she has turned away from the Maker to be what she has to be and denying her compassion and mercy, so... yes. Help. This is very broad but they'd all be potential starting points!

Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nothing comes to mind, I'm game for anything. Talking about Marjolaine would be exceptionally hard for her but would also be really interesting so :]

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? Nope.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? There's a lot and it's all tied into River, to no one's surprise. Anxiety about her being found, either by the people who hurt her or the Inquisition figuring out how dangerous she is and deciding to do something about it or just general demonic possession. Needless guilt about letting this happen and not getting to her sooner, and some guilt about what he had to do to get her out in the end. He stuffs all that down pretty deep because otherwise it would get in the way of actually taking care of her.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nope, though if Cole would decide to tell anyone about the blood magic I'd like that to be plotted out.

Does your character have any immunity or defense against being empathically read? No.
Is there any particular pain and/or memory you would like Cole to pick up on first or focus on? Being traumatized as a child from Uldred's rebellion in Kinloch hold. That left her with a strong dislike/fear of blood magic and possession.
Is there anything else that can be found in their app or wiki pages that should remain off-limits? Nope, it's all fair game.
